Niamh O’Sullivan

Director of Services, Kerry County Council

Niamh did her BSc degree in Parasitology in Trinity College, Dublin and her Masters in Agribusiness and Rural Development in University College Dublin and recently completed a level 9 Professional Certificate in Governance. In 2000, Niamh commenced work in Kerry County Council and has worked at a senior level across the organisation for the last 23 years, where she has worked in; Housing, Community and Enterprise, Tralee Town Council, Human Resources, Municipal District Development and Community & Tourism. In 2023, Niamh was appointed as Director of Services for Economic and Community Development and Manager for the Tralee Municipal District. Throughout her career, Niamh has been involved in strategic planning and in particular the development of significant Statutory Plans such as the County Development Plan and the Local Economic and Community Plan as well as other important strategic plans such as the Age Friendly Strategy, the Library Development Plan, the Kerry Play Policy, the Healthy Kerry Framework, and the Kerry Tourism Strategy. Niamh has also been involved in several collaborative initiatives and as Director of Services, she is also responsible for the development and delivery of significant urban and rural regeneration projects across the County.  Also, in her role as Director of Services, Niamh chairs two of the Southwest Regional Enterprise Plan Working Groups, the Local Enterprise Evaluation Board and is Chief Advisor to the Local Community Development Committee (LCDC).
