Dr Julia Adriana Calderon Diaz

Julia Adriana Calderón Díaz is a Product Development Specialist at the Pig Improvement Company (PIC) since October 2021.

Julia Adriana Calderón Díaz is a Product Development Specialist at the Pig Improvement Company (PIC) since October 2021. Previously she work at Iowa State University where her research focused on improving sow lifetime productivity. During her time at Teagasc, she designed methodologies to improve pig welfare, health and performance indicators. Furthermore, she developed decision support tools to aid pig farmers to identify areas where intervention is needed to maximise sustainability and profitability.

 

Julia is a Salvadorian native, she earned a BSc in Animal Science at the Escuela Agrícola Panamericana “Zamorano” (Honduras), a MSc in Animal Breeding and Genetics from the Universität für Bodenkultur (Austria), a MSc in Animal Science from AgroParisTech (France), and a PhD in Agriculture and Food Science focused on welfare and behaviour of group-housed sows from UCD (Ireland). She also holds a Professional Certificate in Bioinformatics for Animal and Veterinary Science from UCD and she just completed a Post-graduate Diploma in Fintech at TU Dublin.
