Lecturer in AI, Munster Technological University
Haithem Afli is lecturer in AI at Munster Technological University (MTU). He is one of the Funded Investigators in the Science Foundation Ireland funded ADAPT Centre for AI-driven Digital Content Technology, and member of the Executive Committee of the Centre representing MTU. Dr Afli is leading the MTU Artificial Intelligence research group SIGMA since 2019, lecturing in the area and have been giving invited talks in Ireland and abroad on the applications of ML and Natural Language Processing (NLP). His research interests are primarily in the areas of Machine Translation (MT), Sentiment Analysis, NLP and ML, and their applications in eHealth, Agritech and Fintech. He joined MTU Cork (formally CIT) in 2018 from Dublin City University where I was a member of the ADAPT MT team. There he was responsible for managing the ADAPT Social Media and User-Generated Content research group and working on a range of industry projects.
In MTU, he has been personally involved in research grants totalling in excess of €22M of which approx. €1.3M has directly supported his own research.
