Diego Debiasio

About

Diego started his professional career within CRP Henri Tudor, the largest Public Research Centre in Luxembourg, today part of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology www.list.lu, in 2001. He complemented his training with a post-university certificate in Innovation Management at the Institut d’Administration et de Gestion (IAG) of Louvain-la-Neuve (B).

In 2004 he was appointed COO of Technoport, the business incubator department of the research centre. He was heavily involved in the reshaping of the incubator into a limited company back in 2012. He is since then the appointed CEO of the incubator that got ranked #7 by UBI Index in the Top 10 World University Associated Business Incubators in 2015. The incubator is home to over 40 technology-oriented startups, a coworking space (hosting several yearly hackathons) and a major digital fabrication laboratory (FabLab) to support rapid prototyping and innovation.

Technoport, being involved in several European and international networks of business incubators, he also served as board member at EBN (the European Business and Innovation Centre Network – www.ebn.eu) from 2007 to 2016, and as executive board member from 2010 to 2013. He is also an external accredited expert for new full members at EBN since 2007.

Passionate about startups and technology he is actively developing the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Luxembourg. He is the co-organiser of the first Luxembourgish hackathon, the Apps Foundry Contest back in 2012, of 7 national Startupweekends and is pro-actively supporting other hackathons like the Global Game Jam, the Barbecue Game Jam, #play14 and many others.

From 2010 to 2012 he was appointed board member at Monitor-IT SA, a spin-off company from the public research centre Henri Tudor. The company developed easy-to-use and patented home monitoring solutions to improve the quality of life & care for chronically ill heart failure (CHF) patients. The goal was also to achieve better cost-efficiency for health insurers by avoiding/shortening hospitalizations. The company stopped operations in 2015.

In 2015 he was board member at Neopixl SA (www.neopixl.com), a former Technoport company that got acquired by Open Wide (FR), a major French open source company, end of 2015.
